The International Association of Professional Birth Photographers Announces Winners of its Yearly Competition

The International Association of Professional Birth Photographers has once again announced the winners of its yearly competition, and its 2021 honorees are truly breathtaking:

The competition’s First Place winner is a moving photo titled “Daddy’s Girls” by Canada’s Ashley Marston of Ashley Marston Birth Photography. The photo was also selected as the Best in Postpartum category.

The award for Best in Category: Birth Details goes to “The Origin Of Life” by Germany’s Charlene Foerster of Charlene Foerster Fotografie.

“The Greatest Love In The World” by Brazil’s Ane Lucy Silva Barbosa of Ane Lucy Fotografia is the Best in Category: Delivery winner and was also selected as the Best Overall.

For the Best in Category: Fresh 48, the winning photo is titled “Nourish” by the United States’ Jami Edgar of Touch of Hart Photography.

“Reach Down. He’s Almost Here.” by the United States’ Dana Jacobs of Dana Jacobs Photography is the Best in Category

In the Best in Category: Postpartum, the winning photo is “My Body, My Birth” by the United States’ Hanna Hill of Hanna Hill Photography.

In addition to the judges’ selections, the association’s members recognized the following standouts:

“Primal Shapes of Birth” by Australia’s Laura Brink of Rewild Her is the Members’ Choice Best in Category

“Grace” by Germany’s Danny Merz of Geburtsreportage is the Members’ Best in Category

“Nursing A Newborn” by the United States’ Carey Lippert of Carey Laureen Photos & Film is the Members’ Choice Best in Category

Honorable mentions included “The Miracle of Life In Your Hands” by Argentina’s Nora Dalmasso of Nora Dalmasso Fotografia, “You And You And Me” by the United States’ Brittany Knapik of The Birth Story Collective, and “A Mother’s Guidance” by Australia’s Cat Fancote of Capturing Birth.

The collection of captivating birth photographs also featured “The Strength Within You Is Greater Than Any Storm” by the United States’ Lisa Phillips of Lisa Phillips Photography, “Birthing Queen” by Australia’s Kate Kennedy of Kate Kennedy Birth Photography, and “A Dose of Mother Nature” by Australia’s Jessica Henderson of Jessica Henderson Photography.

Other remarkable entries included “Of All Our Travels, This Journey Will Be Our Greatest” by the United States’ Dana Jacobs of Dana Jacobs Photography, “Underwater” by Australia’s Dania Watson of Lauren and Douglas, and “Examining Every Detail” by the United States’ Lisa Phillips of Lisa Phillips Photography.

Lastly, “The Journey Traveled For You” by the United States’ Paulina Splechta of Paulina Splechta Photography captured the emotional moment of a mother holding her baby just seconds after welcoming them into the world.
