Lakshmi Tatma, a 2-year-old girl, is a remarkable individual who was born with four hands and four legs. Her name was chosen after the goddess Lakshmi, who symbolizes wealth and luck, and also happens to be the wife of Vishnu.

According to Lakshmi’s parents, in the village where their family resides, people highly regard her as they consider her to be the divine embodiment within their community. On the other hand, from a scientific standpoint, Lakshmi’s unique physical condition is caused by incomplete twinning, where she is conjoined below the pelvis. While this condition doesn’t significantly impact her as a child, she is likely to face numerous challenges as an adult.
Despite their daughter being worshipped as a goddess by everyone, Lakshmi’s parents still harbor the wish that she could undergo surgery to amputate her extra limbs, allowing her to lead a normal life, attend school, go out, and grow up without encountering any extraordinary difficulties. Unfortunately, due to the high cost of the surgery, this desire remains a dream for Lakshmi’s parents.

Fortunately, Dr. Sharang Patil, leading a research team of more than 30 surgeons, accepted the challenge. He realized the parents’ dream of having a four-legged-four-armed girl through a 24-hour surgery, completely free of charge, at a hospital in the southern city of Bangalore. During the surgery, Dr. Patil successfully removed the extra limbs from little Lakshmi, enabling her to have a normal body like everyone else.
