Thai Monarch Rescues 13 Emaciated Great Danes from Near Death at Breeding Farm

In a heartwarming turn of events, 15 emaciated Great Danes have found a new lease on life after being discovered in a near-death state at an abandoned breeding facility in Thailand. The shocking footage of their rescue highlights the dire conditions these dogs had been subjected to.

Volunteers from Watchdog Thailand stepped in to save the dogs just in the nick of time. Tragically, a female dog and her two puppies had already succumbed to the harsh conditions in a cage, just a day before the rescue team arrived.

However, the story took a positive twist when the canines were adopted in an unexpected act of compassion. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun of Thailand heard about their plight and personally intervened. The king not only ordered his household to support the dogs’ recovery, but he also formally adopted them.

The neglected and malnourished dogs were found at an abandoned residence in Pathum Thani. The owner had disappeared several weeks prior, leaving these innocent creatures to fend for themselves. Relatives of the owner reached out to volunteers, revealing that the facility had been operating as a dog breeding farm until financial troubles forced its closure, leading to the cruel abandonment of the animals.

Left to fend for themselves, the dogs had been severely underfed, causing them to become mere skeletons covered in fur. Thanks to the swift intervention of the volunteers and the compassionate care provided by veterinarian Kangwan Thirathamrong, the dogs were nursed back to health. After initial treatment, they were relocated to the Livestock Development’s Animal Center for further recovery.

A spokesperson stated, “We have received a Royal command from His Majesty The King. His Royal Highness has commanded a delegation to adopt the dogs at the Animal Welfare Division.” This generous act ensured that the dogs would receive the necessary treatment, food, and ongoing care they desperately needed.

The previous owner now faces legal consequences under the Cruelty Prevention and Welfare of Animal Act for their neglect and abandonment of the dogs. The monarch’s intervention not only saved these Great Danes from a life of suffering but also serves as a beacon of hope and compassion, reminding us of the power of empathy and kindness even in the face of distressing circumstances.
