Strong mom gives birth to 10-pound baby naturally and painlessly.

A new mother recently gave birth to a “big baby” weighing the same as a bag of potatoes, without using any pain relief. These babies are commonly referred to as macrosomia. Victoria Cook, 38, joyfully welcomed her son Jack into the world five months ago, weighing an impressive 10lbs 3oz. Despite relying only on gas and air for pain management, Victoria claims she experienced minimal discomfort and actually enjoyed the birthing process. She also mentioned that she had a considerably large baby bump, resembling a woman at the nine-month mark by the time she reached seven months of pregnancy.

Victoria stated, “My bump was enormous. People often say that you appear bigger with your second child, but many individuals asked me if I was expecting twins. I suppose I was carrying the equivalent of that, approximately. It became increasingly challenging to even walk. Taking care of a one-year-old in that state was really difficult.”

She spent several hours in labor at a birthing center near her home in London last September, but she savored every moment of it. The nurses remarked on the peacefulness of the process, despite little Jack being one of the largest babies born in the country at that time.

Victoria recalled, “I know it might sound absurd, but it was almost painless, and the delivery was quite swift. His shoulder got slightly stuck on the way out, which caused some discomfort, but overall, it was an extremely positive experience. Instead of choosing a labor ward at the hospital, we opted for a birthing center and were fortunate enough to have a water birth. It may sound a bit unconventional, but we had nature sounds playing in the background during labor, which was very soothing.”

“Every time a nurse entered the room, they would comment on how peaceful it was. When Jack was born, he was one of the heaviest babies in the country for his age, measuring in the 98th percentile for weight. Since Jack was my second child, I was more prepared when going to the birthing center. I had some 0-3 month-sized clothes ready for him because he wouldn’t fit into newborn sizes. However, we encountered an issue with diapers because none of the newborn-sized ones at the center were suitable for him.”

Victoria highly recommends birthing centers to expectant mothers.

She expressed, “They are run by midwives, so the approach is less medical compared to hospitals, allowing for a more natural experience. The water birth was particularly wonderful as well. Submerging yourself in warm water during labor provides immense relief and eases back pain. We were also fortunate to have a lovely corner room flooded with sunlight. Giving birth can be quite daunting, and I believe we don’t discuss many of the details enough. So many people have horror stories and traumatic birthing experiences, but I want others to know that it’s possible to deliver a 10lb baby and come out of it just fine!”

Victoria’s experience was so positive that she even FaceTimed her mother during labor.

She mentioned, “Looking back, I’m not sure what I was thinking, but at the time, it seemed like a great idea. I recorded video tours of the room and spoke to my brother’s wife, Liana, who was ten weeks behind me in her pregnancy. I wanted to show her what was happening.”

Nowadays, Jack wears the same-sized diapers as his one-year-old sister, Emilie, and happily embraces her hand-me-downs.

She concluded, “Giving birth can be really daunting, and I believe we should discuss the details more openly.”
