More than 50 dogs were rescued from the slaughterhouse. How did you feel when your dog was brought to this place?

The dogs in this story were subjected to a horrendous experience. They were stolen from the streets and trafficked for over 10 hours, tightly bound in sacks with their muzzles shut. Fortunately, a call from the police alerted a team to an illegal dog trafficker delivering dogs to a slaughterhouse. The team was able to arrive at the scene in time to rescue the dogs and bring them to a police station.

The rescued dogs were in terrible condition, especially their emaciated bodies. The veterinary team provided emergency care, including IV fluids for severely dehydrated dogs and treatment for wounds around their mouths caused by the bindings. The team assessed each dog to determine their specific needs and provide the necessary care and TLC to help them recover.

The team set up a temporary shelter in Bogor, West Java, to house and care for the rescued dogs. They are committed to ending the dog meat trade industry globally and providing emergency care to dogs in need. Despite the trauma they’ve experienced, the dogs sought affection from their rescuers, and the team hopes to help them forget their past and recover quickly.

The Humane Society International is asking for support to help dogs and all animals rescued from the dog meat trade by clicking on the donate link in the fundraiser on this Giving Tuesday.
