While the series has achieved commercial success over the years, it has also received criticism for excessive and illogical creative choices in its scripts. For instance, the scene in the ninth installment where cars are sent into space raised eyebrows. As a result, many people are curious about what tricks the team has up their sleeves to captivate audiences in the final installments.
Retribution from a past enemy
In the initial scenes, the film takes viewers back to 2011 when the main character, Dominic (Vin Diesel), and his team plan to steal the assets of crime lord Hernan Reyes. This heist became the main material for the production of Fast Five (2011) – a project that marked a turning point for the franchise, highly acclaimed by many critics as the best installment in the series and the first to surpass $600 million in box office revenue.

After the events, Hernan Reyes is killed, leaving his son Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa) seeking revenge. For 12 years, Dante gathers allies and meticulously plans to make Dominic’s family fall into ruin, with his 8-year-old son being the primary target.
The film follows a simple revenge plot to create a familiar battle between good and evil. Several plot elements are designed to establish connections between the various film installments. Some characters return, such as Jakob Toretto (John Cena) – Dominic’s brother, and the previous antagonist Cipher (Charlize Theron). This may be confusing for those who haven’t watched the preceding projects.
Originally, the team intended to conclude the Fast & Furious franchise with two films. However, lead actor and producer Vin Diesel had grander ambitions, deciding to create a trilogy. This direction elongated the storyline and introduced more plot points that felt contrived.
Family bonds and sibling relationships remain the primary message of the film. However, due to the heavy focus on action sequences, the screenwriters fail to develop a multi-dimensional narrative. As the film concludes, many questions remain unanswered, forcing the audience to continue following the subsequent installments for answers.

The film retains the essence of the franchise with intense and thrilling chase sequences. From the opening scene, viewers witness a high-octane battle between two factions on the bustling streets of Rio, Brazil. While dragging a vault through the city, the cars crush everything in their path, creating a heart-pounding and suspenseful atmosphere.
Taking the director’s chair is Louis Leterrier – a filmmaker who has contributed to the success of many renowned action films such as Transporter (2002), The Incredible Hulk (2008), and Clash of the Titans (2010). With his extensive experience, the director skillfully handles the chase scenes and explosive moments, which constitute a significant portion of the 141-minute runtime.
The filmmakers treat the audience to a continuous onslaught of action sequences with a fast-paced and powerful rhythm. They cleverly utilize camera angles and perspectives to immerse viewers as if they were part of the intense battles alongside the characters.
