Ernestina Gallina, hailing from Cenestino, Italy, has possessed a unique ability to infuse vitality into everyday objects since her early years. Her passion for painting and design ignited at a young age, but regrettably, her family did not share her artistic aspirations, leaving her without the opportunity to nurture her talents or attend traditional art schools. Undeterred, she channelled her artistic flair into a beloved hobby.
In 1987, Gallina’s life took an unexpected turn when she and her family relocated to Nairobi, Kenya. It was in this new environment that her artistic journey truly blossomed. Gallina vividly recalls the pivotal moment when she stumbled upon a book about rock paintings in a local library. This discovery sparked an idea – how to transform the common pebbles found in rivers and streams into captivating pieces of art. This revelation allowed her to seamlessly blend her passion for art with her deep love for nature and the environment. From that moment on, she embraced rock painting as her calling and never looked back.
After dedicating three years to honing her skills in rock painting, Ernestina Gallina began sharing her knowledge with eager students. In 2003, she achieved another remarkable milestone by establishing Italy’s first-ever rock painting club, providing a space where artists and enthusiasts could come together to explore this unique form of artistic expression.
