Bombardier claims new Global 8000 is world’s fastest business jet.
Bombardier has removed the covers on its brand-new Global 8000 business jet, which it touts as the world’s fastest and longest-range production business jet. The aircraft features a luxurious interior with a top speed of 623 knots (716 mph, 1,152 km/h) and a range of 8,000 km (9,200 miles, 14,816).
Sales of private jets are currently 20 percent higher than pre-pandemic levels and are rising to record highs. As a result, there is a lot of incentive to launch new initiatives that outperform competitors in terms of amenities and performance.
The Global 8000 business jet is a good example. Depending on configuration, the aircraft can accommodate up to 19 passengers. Its design was inspired by Bombardier’s Global 7500 flight test vehicle, which reached a top supersonic speed of Mach 1.015 while flying in tandem with a NASA F/A-18 chase jet.
The Smooth Flex Wing of the Global 8000, which is intended to provide optimal control and stability across a wide range of speeds, gives it a wingspan of 104 feet (31.7 meters), allowing it to operate from straight ahead. Power is provided by a pair of GE Passport engines that can generate 18,920 ib of thrust, giving the aircraft not just hypersonic speed but also a 51,000-foot flight ceiling (15,600 m).
Advanced avionics, including as a Head-Up Display (HUD), fly-by-wire side stick flight controls, a suite of gauge displays, enhanced vision and synthetic vision systems, graphic flight planning, multi-scan weather radar, and performance-based navigation, are all featured on the flight deck (PBN).
Bombardier says that the interior cabin, which is divided into four full-size custom seating zones, has the lowest cabin altitude, with a point equivalent to 2,900 feet (884 meters) when flying at 41,000 feet (12,500 m). The air is also refreshed in as short as 90 seconds and is passed through a HEPA filter for absolute cleanliness.
The Dynamic Daylight Simulation lighting in the cabin, meantime, employs red and blue LEDs strategically placed to mimic and help reduce jet lag caused by the body’s production of melatonin. A large galley, a full-size bed, a stand-up shower, an available 4K monitor, “zero-gravity” seats, Ka-band internet, and a private crew compartment for long-haul flights are among the amenities available in the cabin.
