Baby’s Heart-Shaped Birthmark Warms Hearts Around the World.

It is perhaps the most fitting symbol a February-born baby could ever have.

So it’s no surprise that midwives couldn’t believe their eyes when Jorgia Welch was delivered with a heart-shaped birthmark. Sitting on the left side of her tummy, in line with her belly button, the mark caught everyone’s attention.

Jorgia (pictured with her mother) was born on February 22 last year, arriving three days early via a planned C-section

Jorgia’s parents, Jayne and Joe, from Stoke-on-Trent, were informed by medics that the heart-shaped birthmark would likely disappear with age. However, as she approaches her first birthday, the mark has only grown in proportion and remains clearly visible.

Jayne Welch, a 37-year-old care assistant, recalled how the midwives were astonished when they spotted the perfectly symmetrical heart on Jorgia’s tiny tummy shortly after her birth in February last year. Despite the initial expectation of fading, the birthmark has persisted and slightly raised as Jorgia continues to grow.

Medics told the 37-year-old and her partner Joe that the heart would likely disappear with age. But Jorgia's birth mark has grown in proportion to her and remains clearly visible

In general, birthmarks are colored marks on the skin present at birth or appearing shortly afterward. Most types of birthmarks do not require any treatment. However, some may need to be treated if they interfere with health or cause potential problems as a child grows.

Jorgia’s heart-shaped birthmark has become a talk of admiration among her midwives and health visitors. Everyone who meets her loves it and always wants to see it. Jayne affectionately refers to Jorgia as “the little girl with the perfect love heart,” and she considers it a unique and beautiful part of her daughter.

As Jorgia grows and becomes more aware of her unique strawberry birthmark, she has developed a fascination with it, even trying to take it off with her pinch grip. Jayne hopes that as Jorgia gets older, she will continue to embrace and love her birthmark as much as her family does.

In a beautiful gesture of love, Jayne plans to get a matching tattoo of the heart-shaped birthmark on her left side, mirroring her daughter’s unique mark.

Ms Welch said: 'When she was first born, it was only a little red mark, but in a perfect heart shape.' Since then, the mark has kept growing and is now slightly raised, she said

Jorgia’s heart-shaped birthmark serves as a reminder that beauty comes in all shapes and forms. It has become a symbol of her individuality and a cherished part of her identity. As she approaches her first birthday celebration with her loving family, Jorgia’s heart-shaped birthmark continues to be a beautiful testament to her uniqueness and the love that surrounds her.

But Jorgia's birth mark has grown in proportion to her and remains clearly visible ahead of her first birthday next week, which she will be celebrating with her family (pictured)
