In a remarkable feat, an Australian mother has made history by giving birth to four consecutive sets of twins, setting a record for multiple births. Dale Chalk, hailing from Queensland, has become the first person ever to have two distinct quartets, leaving her family and the medical community in awe. Her husband, Darren Chalk, an ambulance driver and proud father to 11 children under the age of 7, shared the news of their newest additions on Wednesday, expressing their joy and gratitude.
Mrs. Chalk, 34, expressed her happiness at being pregnant once again, emphasizing the importance of embracing the experience. She stated, “When you find out you’re pregnant, always be happy. You merely know who you are and are not finished internally.”
The Chalk family’s journey began with their oldest child, six-year-old Shelby. The first quartet, comprising Emma, Ellie, Samuel, and Joseph, was delivered prematurely in August 2004, a remarkable 13 weeks ahead of schedule. They will be starting school the following year. The second set, consisting of Sarah, Alice, Matthew, and Milly, arrived in October 2005, although sadly, Milly did not survive. Finally, Tiger-Lilly, their most recent addition, joined the family in 2007.
Mrs. Chalk often finds herself mistaken for “the family’s babysitter,” but she takes it in stride, as her happiness knows no bounds. She expressed, “For our babies, we breathe. It is a great blessing for us to have so many children. It’s a good thing. We are a content family. The children only get what they need, not everything they want.”
Managing a household of this size is no small task. Mrs. Chalk reportedly tackles seven loads of laundry every day and spends up to $900 a week on groceries. With their five-bedroom house bursting at the seams, the family intends to transform their 12-seat transport vehicle into a 30-seat bus. Mr. Chalk works as an ambulance driver and also assists with a taxi service to support their growing family.
