Little Winry Beautiful was born with a rare birthmark

Birthmarks can be quite special. After all, they stay for the whole ʋida. And although, at times, they may seem strange to others, they are special and unique. This is the story of little Winry, who was born with a birthmark that made her very special. Nicole Lucas Hall is a lovely mother of 2 children, her son Asher and her daughter Winry. Winry, 13 months old, was born with a rare birthmark that covers a quarter of her face. Recalling the moment she first saw her daughter, Nicole said her initial thoughts were confusion and concern for her safety, since neither of them had ever seen a birthmark like that.

She said: “When she was first handed to me, I thought she was a bruise. Then she was quickly aware to my husband and me that she was not a bruise. And like the name, I thought it was a lot like a mole.” They assumed it was something ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀᴏᴜs, but the doctors quickly allayed her fears. Winry was born with a rare ᴄᴏɴɢᴇɴɪᴛᴀʟ ᴍᴇʟᴀɴᴏᴄʏᴛɪᴄ nevi, with an estimated prevalence of about 1 in 50,000 births. They were assured that the birthmark was proƄaƄlemently purely aesthetic and that any health proƄleм would be on a par with other babies or moles.

Nicole gave a big sigh of relief, they were finally able to relax and appreciate Winry’s arrival even more. Rather than be saddened by her daughter’s circumstances, Nicole said she used the power of social media to promote awareness and encourage others that being “different” is her superpower. She said: “For many people, this is the first time they’ve had a birthmark like hers and that’s part of why I enjoy sharing. This is a great conversation for parents with their children to see that children have differences, or for those parents who have a child who looks like Winry or has some kind of birthmark to see her child represented. Her health and happiness are our top priority. We have to watch her with sunscreen. I’m careful with hats and that kind of thing. I know our regular dermatology appointment will proƄaƄlemently be our best friend when we grow up.”

Other than that, they have been almost completely overwhelmed by the compassion of those who have learned about Winry. Every little sister wants to have a big brother to take care of her. And in Winry’s case, Asher is a sweet and helpful “true brother.” According to Nicole, he is wonderfully unaware that there is something ‘different’ about her. He knows that she has a birthmark on her face, but that’s nothing more different to him than having different colored eyes. Every day, Nicole and her husband do everything they can to protect and raise Winry and her brother to be confident in all of her strengths and characteristics. As important as it is for them to constantly check Winry’s health, they are also concerned with how others may perceive or judge her.

Winry was the first person in the family to have this birthmark. But Winry’s is what really sets it apart. Nicole said: “She just radiates joy. She is almost always laughing or screaming. She is simply the happiest baby I have ever seen in my life. She already she’s a big puller. We don’t have a lot of words, but she tells you what she’s like and she’s already getting a little forward, so I think we’ll have a lot on our hands with her. We have to talk to several people from Brazil with birthmarks. One of them has one that is almost identical to Winry’s and it’s been a lot of fun talking to her because he’s almost exactly my age.
