Big Daddy 2: Sequel Hype Grows After Viral Adam Sandler & Cole Sprouse Fan Poster

A fan-made poster for Big Daddy 2 has ignited speculation and excitement among fans, leading many to wonder if a sequel to the beloved 1999 comedy is in the works. Featuring Adam Sandler and Cole Sprouse, the viral image has fueled demand for a follow-up film, but is Big Daddy 2 actually happening?

Is Big Daddy 2 Real?

The poster in question depicts Cole Sprouse standing alongside Adam Sandler against a New York City backdrop, seemingly teasing a new chapter in the story of Sonny Koufax and Julian McGrath. However, the image has been confirmed as fake, originating from a page known for creating hypothetical movie posters, including ones for Big Daddy 2 and other non-existent sequels.

As of now, no official plans for Big Daddy 2 have been announced, making the viral image purely a product of fan imagination. This isn’t the first time a fake poster for an Adam Sandler sequel has gone viral—similar incidents occurred with Little Nicky 2 and other nostalgic favorites.

Could Big Daddy 2 Actually Happen?

The likelihood of Big Daddy receiving a sequel is slim, given that Adam Sandler has rarely revisited movies from that era with direct follow-ups. However, there has been some discussion about the possibility of a sequel over the years.

In July 2024, Big Daddy producer Sid Ganis and writer Steve Franks (best known for Psych) reflected on the idea of a second film. While Ganis believed the original movie should stand on its own, Franks expressed enthusiasm about exploring the world of Big Daddy again. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Ganis remarked:

“There are always rumblings about a sequel when a movie is a smash hit. But thank goodness, we knew better. It’s better that Big Daddy is what it is.”

Franks, however, had a different take:

“It’s something that I would certainly be interested in revisiting again because it’s such a fun field to play in, and there are a lot of great opportunities. If they ever wanted to make a series or a sequel, I would be absolutely the first one to line up.”

Adam Sandler himself has addressed the idea of a Big Daddy sequel in past interviews. At the premiere of Uncut Gems in 2019, Sandler was asked about reuniting with Cole Sprouse, to which he humorously responded:

“I won’t do that to him.”

Sandler acknowledged that Sprouse has built a successful career of his own and didn’t seem particularly interested in reviving their Big Daddy roles.

Sandler’s Upcoming Projects

While Big Daddy 2 remains unlikely, Sandler is set to return to another fan-favorite role from the ‘90s. Happy Gilmore 2 is officially in development and will be released on Netflix in 2025, proving that sequels to his classic films aren’t entirely off the table.

For now, fans of Big Daddy can revisit the original film, which is available for purchase or rent on most online platforms. As for a sequel? Only time will tell whether Sonny Koufax and Julian McGrath will reunite on-screen once again.
