Congratulations Jessica Pritchard on the wonderful journey of being pregnant with twins but giving birth to triplets
Jessica Pritchard, 31 years old, has been blessed with two pregnancies back-to-back. She gave birth to her second daughter, Mia, in May 2020 and welcomed triplets in April, just 11 months later.
Pritchard, who already has an 8-year-old daughter named Molly, said she and her partner Harry Williams, 34, were “speechless” when they found out they were expecting triplets but felt “overjoyed and blessed” with their new additions. Their triplets, Ella, George, and Olivia, were born weighing 2 lbs 9 oz, 3 lbs 11 oz, and 3 lbs 13 oz respectively.
Mealtime can be challenging because everyone needs to be fed at the same time. In addition to taking more time to feed, there are also three sets of diapers to change. “I just need to be more organized, but I’m a fairly organized person as it is.”
After giving birth to Mia, Pritchard was still on maternity leave when she found out she was pregnant again in October 2020.
“At first, the sonographer told me I was expecting twins, which was shocking in itself, but she kept looking and said I had a third baby. My words failed me. It was hard for me to believe at first. I refrained from telling Harry I was with the girls until I got home because it was still very early, and I didn’t want to break the news in front of the triplets.”
“It was a big shock, but every pregnancy is a blessing, so we consider ourselves very fortunate.”
The children were born at 31 weeks of pregnancy, and after their birth, they stayed in the hospital for 7 weeks to receive care. Once things gradually stabilized, they were able to return home.
“We had it all, going home together. Molly loves being a big sister; she loves them all. She’s such a good sister and always wants to help,” said Pritchard. George currently weighs 10.11 lbs, while Olivia weighs 8.11 lbs and Ella 7 lbs. Since the triplets have been living together, things have been going well so far because they have a fairly solid foundation, and overall, I’m relatively normal.
Having a baby is hard work, but the NHS staff at Jessop Wing Hospital in Sheffield made it as easy as possible for us, giving us peace of mind. They are also very considerate and understanding of how chaotic our lives are. Despite occasionally having hiccups, they do everything possible to keep us together as much as possible to make things simpler. This has changed everything, but in a different, transformative way.
