We Finally Know Who Plays Lady Deadpool
You probably already guessed.
In the latest installment of the Deadpool franchise, Deadpool & Wolverine, excitement has reached a fever pitch, not just for the action-packed scenes and cameos but also for the reveal of Lady Deadpool. This film is a whirlwind of chaos, featuring time-ripping machines, non-matter transformations, and, of course, a cavalcade of Deadpool variants. However, it’s the third act that truly steals the spotlight as a group of these variants storms onto Wade Wilson’s (played by Ryan Reynolds) street. Leading the charge is Lady Deadpool, sporting an outfit strikingly similar to Wade’s signature red suit, but with a distinctive golden blonde ponytail.
When Lady Deadpool made her debut in the final teaser, many fans speculated that Blake Lively, Reynolds’ wife, was the one behind the mask. It turns out, they were right! While Lady Deadpool keeps her mask on throughout her brief appearance, Lively is credited for the role, suggesting she may have lent her voice to the character rather than appearing on screen.
Despite her limited screen time, Lady Deadpool doesn’t shy away from action. She finds herself embroiled in a brutal fight alongside Deadpool and Wolverine, all set to the iconic tune of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer.”
Lady Deadpool is no stranger to comic book fans. In the Marvel universe, she is a character with regenerative abilities, a penchant for witty banter, and an arsenal of swords. Known as Wanda Wilson in her storyline, she hails from Earth-3010, a dystopian version of America plagued by fascism and civil war, where she fights alongside anti-government forces.
Interestingly, Lady Deadpool was inspired by Blake Lively from the very beginning. Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has revealed that he based her comic design on Lively, a nod to their shared love for Gossip Girl. In a 2022 Instagram post, he shared that Lively’s character, Serena van der Woodsen, influenced the look he crafted for Lady Deadpool.
In a playful twist, Lively celebrated her role on social media, stating, “The universe has such a magical sense of humor sometimes.”
But Lively’s involvement doesn’t end with her character. Reynolds weaves in several cheeky references to his wife throughout the film, including a line about the human body’s bones that cleverly ties back to Gossip Girl. In another moment, Deadpool quips to Wolverine, “Get your mind out of my pants, man, or I’m telling Blake,” further highlighting the personal connection between the two actors.
Their family connection runs deeper, as Reynolds also cast their seven-year-old daughter, Inez, in the film as Kidpool. Although she wears a mask like her mother, she delivers some hilariously inappropriate lines.
At the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere in New York, Lively turned heads in a stunning crimson embroidered jumpsuit by Atelier Versace, a nod to her superhero role that left fans buzzing with excitement.
Reynolds took a moment on the red carpet to express his admiration for Lively. “She’s amazing. She’s so smart. Everything I do is in lockstep with her,” he told Entertainment Tonight. He emphasized how integral she was to the film’s success, noting that she accompanies him on every endeavor, even the perilous ones.
For fans eager to see more of Blake Lively, she’ll soon star in the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s It Ends with Us, set to hit theaters on August 9. Until then, audiences can catch her brief yet memorable appearance alongside her husband in Deadpool & Wolverine.
