Submission of F-35 Proposal for Switzerland’s New Fighter Aircraft Competition

On November 18, the U.S. government and Lockheed Martin submitted an F-35 proposal to the Swiss government in support of Switzerland’s New Fighter Aircraft (NFA) competition. The F-35 proposal comprises a comprehensive package that includes up to 40 F-35A aircraft, sustainment solutions tailored to Swiss autonomy requirements, and an extensive training program. This proposal is the most advanced and capable solution for the Swiss NFA competition.

Greg Ulmer, F-35 Program Vice President and General Manager, stated, “We are confident that our F-35 offer is the best and most affordable solution for the Swiss NFA competition. We are offering the only 5th generation fighter at the cost of a 4th generation aircraft while offering Switzerland an aircraft that will protect Swiss sovereignty for decades to come.”

The offer utilizes the F-35 Global Support Solution to ensure the sustainment of the aircraft for Switzerland, optimizing the economics of scale to reduce sustainment costs for the Swiss Air Force. It also includes a six-month spare parts package to ensure the readiness of the Swiss Air Force and Swiss industry gain an understanding of how to maintain the F-35 airframe and its advanced capabilities.
