After enduring a challenging journey of 25 years marked by unsuccessful IVF attempts, a Scottish woman has recently shared her overwhelming happiness as she finally welcomed her first child. This determined lady’s long-held dream of becoming a mother became a reality after 21 rounds of trying to conceive, and her excitement knows no bounds.
Helen Dalglish had dedicated over KSh 17 million and more than two decades of her life to the pursuit of holding her long-awaited bundle of joy. Following the birth of a healthy baby girl, the new mother expressed that the two decades of pain and uncertainty had been completely erased from her memory, replaced by boundless joy and gratitude.
“When you finally experience that little miracle at the end of such a long journey, you forget about the 25 years of struggle. I would look down at my growing bump and wonder, ‘Am I dreaming?’ Gazing at my daughter, I still can’t believe I’m a mother. It feels surreal,” she exclaimed.
Helen’s journey towards motherhood began when she was 28 years old, with her then-husband, before she received the disheartening diagnosis of unexplained infertility. A medical consultant informed her that her uterus was severely tilted, which consistently resulted in negative outcomes during the procedures she underwent in attempts to get pregnant.
Despite her persistent efforts, Helen endured three heartbreaking miscarriages. Her only remaining hope of becoming a mother was through the use of donor eggs.
The transformative news arrived via email, leaving Helen and her husband overwhelmed with tears as the prospect of parenthood became closer than ever before.
“When we returned home, I burst into tears. It felt like 25 years of grief were trying to escape, and they finally caught up with me at a moment when I least expected it. It’s nothing short of heavenly. Every day with her gets better. She appears to be the most tranquil, easygoing, and joyful baby. It’s almost as if I waited so long, and now I’m being showered with blessings,” she shared.
