Norwich, England – In a breathtaking moment, two premature twin sisters entered the world, cradling each other tenderly. Aria and Skylar Morgan-Trodden, born ten weeks early via C-section, clung to one another as they took their first breaths. This touching photograph, capturing their unbreakable bond, was taken by a midwife and shared by their fathers, Kyran Trodden (25) and Ryan Morgan (28), hailing from Staines, Surrey.
Their proud dads had the privilege of witnessing the moment their daughters were born, a heartfelt photograph symbolizing the culmination of their rollercoaster surrogacy journey towards parenthood.
As the identical girls were delivered by their surrogate mother, they held onto each other in the same position they had been nestled in the womb just moments before. In a photo shared by the couple, the identical twins could be seen clinging to each other – mirroring the exact same position they had held inside the womb.
Kyran and his fiancé Ryan expressed that their daughters’ arrival was a dream come true, and they consider themselves truly blessed. The couple became fathers for the first time in November when a relative selflessly offered to carry a baby for them.
Throughout the pregnancy, they savored every moment, initially expecting one baby but receiving the incredible news of two little miracles at six weeks. Kyran, a preschool deputy manager, and Ryan, a customer service specialist, eagerly counted down to their baby’s birth, sharing updates and sneak peeks of a fashionable nursery and overflowing closets filled with pink frills on their family Instagram account @themorgantroddens.
However, their journey took a worrying turn when, at 20 weeks, they received the devastating news that one of their unborn girls had been diagnosed with TTTS (twin to twin transfusion syndrome), raising concerns about the other twin’s health. The surrogate was rushed to the hospital the same day for successful laser ablation surgery.
Then, on November 23 – 10 weeks before their February due date – the girls arrived, happy and healthy. Skylar weighed just 2lbs 2oz, with her sister Aria weighing only 2lbs 4oz. The couple met five years ago and embarked on their journey to become parents three years into their relationship.
Their joy was marred when Kyran tested positive for COVID-19 the day after the birth, and the new dads were forced into isolation. Despite this heartbreak, the staff provided unwavering support, updating them daily with photos and videos.
Kyran shared, “The whole journey was amazing; we had our ups, downs, laughs, and tears, jam-packed full of emotions. It really tested us, and we felt every emotion. Obviously, we went into it thinking we were having one baby, but at six weeks, we found out it was actually twins, which was an amazing shock.”
Kyran and Ryan hope that by sharing their experience, they can encourage other same-sex couples to pursue their dreams of starting a family. They expressed their gratitude to their surrogate, stating, “To our surrogate, we will be forever in debt to her and can’t thank her enough for the gift of two precious lives. We thank her so much; there are no words that can ever truly tell her how grateful we are.”
