The International Association of Professional Birth Photographers has once again announced the winners of its yearly competition, and its 2021 honorees are the definition of breathtaking.
The competition’s First Place winner and Best in Postpartum is the moving photo titled “Daddy’s Girls” by Ashley Marston of Ashley Marston Birth Photography from Canada.
The Best in Category: Birth Details and Best Overall winner is the incredible shot titled “The Origin Of Life” by Charlene Foerster of Charlene Foerster Fotografie from Germany.
The Best in Category: Delivery winner is the emotional capture titled “The Greatest Love In The World” by Anne Lucy Silva Barbosa of Anne Lucy Fotografia from Brazil.
The Best in Category: Fresh 48 winner is the image titled “Nourish” by Jami Edgar of Touch of Hart Photography from the United States.
The Best in Category: Labor winner is the shot titled “Reach Down. He’s Almost Here.” by Dana Jacobs of Dana Jacobs Photography from the United States.
The Best in Category: Postpartum winner is the photo titled “My Body, My Birth” by Hanna Hill of Hanna Hill Photography from the United States.
In addition to the judges’ selections, the association’s members recognized other standout photographs.
The Members’ Choice Best in Category: Labor is the intimate moment of a laboring woman being supported by her partner titled “Primal Shapes of Birth” by Laura Brink of Rewild Her from Australia.
The Members’ Best in Category: Delivery is the serene moment titled “Grace” by Danny Merz of Geburtsreportage from Germany.
The Members’ Choice Best in Category: Fresh 48 is the photo of a mother breastfeeding her newborn titled “Nursing A Newborn” by Carey Lippert of Carey Laureen Photos & Film from the United States.
The honorable mentions include “The Miracle of Life In Your Hands” by Nora Dalmasso of Nora Dalmasso Fotografia from Argentina, “You and You and Me” by Brittany Kapik of The Birth Story Collective from the United States, and “A Mother’s Guidance” by Cat Fancote of Capturing Birth from Australia.
Other honorable mentions are “The Strength Within You Is Greater Than Any Storm” by Lisa Phillips of Lisa Phillips Photography from the United States, “Birthing Queen” by Kate Kennedy of Kate Kennedy Birth Photography from Australia, and “A Dose of Mother Nature” by Jessica Henderson of Jessica Henderson Photography from Australia.
Furthermore, the competition recognized “Of All Our Travels, This Journey Will Be Our Greatest” by Dana Jacobs of Dana Jacobs Photography from the United States, and “Underwater” by Dania Watson of Lauren and Douglas from Australia.
Lastly, the competition highlighted “Examining Every Detail” by Lisa Phillips of Lisa Phillips Photography from the United States and “The Journey Traveled For You” by Paulina Splechta of Paulina Splechta Photography from the United States.
